As I write this message to you, our neighbors, friends, and supporters, Fairmont State University is busy. We’re kicking off our spring semester, and our students and faculty have returned to join staff members who already hit the ground running in 2025.
Fairmont State University began the spring 2025 semester with its Spring Kick-Off, where President Mike Davis shared leadership updates and unveiled the university’s new strategic vision, A Great Place to Learn, Work, and Call Home. President Davis emphasized a growth mindset in addressing higher education challenges and highlighted upcoming events, including Fairmont State Day at the Capitol and the annual Fairmont State Day of Giving.

When we were kids, most of us had a Christmas “wish list.” But as we grew up, that list changed. Instead of a new phone, we now hope for newfound peace. Instead of sneakers and clothes, we wish for goodwill. And instead of a puppy, we ask for kindness.
Now 18 months into his term as Fairmont State University president, Dr. Mike Davis believes the university is on a good path after a successful 2024. A lot has already changed since he took the position in July 2023, Davis said.
Happy December Falcons! The holidays are all about celebrating with your community of people and we want you to know that you are an important part of our community. This month, President Davis reflects on his hope for Fairmont State’s community and challenges all of us to encourage and support each other.
Thanksgiving is an annual opportunity to spend time with friends and families. During those gatherings, folks will express their thanks for the blessings in their lives. I would like to take this opportunity to do that, as well.

After more than a year of listening sessions, discussions, planning and replanning, Fairmont State University has finished its strategic vision for the next decade, which centers on the university being a great place to learn, work and call home.
It’s election season, and while the air outside is getting chillier, the temperature of political discourse is rising across the country.
It’s Homecoming Week! Home isn’t just where you are from or where you live. Home is where you BELONG, and I want every member of our campus community and all of NCWV to know that you belong at Fairmont State and we are here for you. Homecoming is sure to be an exciting week with many opportunities to celebrate the Falcon spirit.
It’s late-September, and Fairmont State University has been back in session for a month or so. And while you may not have realized it, it’s time for you to come ‘back to school,’ too. It’s time for you to discover what makes this a Great Place to Call Home.
