Parents & Families

Welcome to the Family!

We are so pleased that your student has chosen to attend Fairmont State University. Now that you have a student here, you are a member of our Falcon Family, too!

We understand the importance of family, and we strive to make it a key value here. We provide an atmosphere that is inclusive and welcoming so all Falcon families feel supported and empowered.

The goals of our Parents and Family Program are to:

  • Serve as a central resource for parents and families and enhance strong partnerships for student success.
  • Develop and enrich parent and family involvement opportunities throughout the university community
  • Provide information about the student experience at Fairmont State.
  • Foster tradition, pride, and investments in our community.

Family Weekend

During this revitalized annual event, Fairmont State family members will have an unparalleled opportunity to check in on their students, enjoy fellowship, share a meal with other families, and much more.

Family Weekend also provides a wonderful occasion for families to get a first-hand look at their student's life as a college student at Fairmont State. Families can attend a class with their student, enjoy a football game, or visit the Falcon Center recreation complex. Typically, an event is held in Downtown Fairmont as well to give family members a chance to become more familiar with the surrounding community.

2023 Family Weekend will take place October 20-21st.

Letters from Home

Letters from Home is a new program here at Fairmont State University that keeps you and your student connected while your student is with us at Fairmont State. To participate in the program, simply download the template to your computer, type your message, and email it to falconfamily@fairmontstate.edu with your student's name in the subject line.

This will allow you to write a letter to your student at any point in the year and it will be delivered straight to their room.

If you have any questions please reach out to falconfamily@fairmontstate.edu.
