Fairmont State University Announces Paul Steinhaus as New Chief Information Officer

Fairmont State University is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul Steinhaus as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO). With more than three decades of experience in information technology management and strategic planning, Steinhaus brings a wealth of expertise and leadership to the institution.

His expertise will ensure that our students, faculty, and staff have access to high quality and secure technology, fostering an innovative and effective learning environment.” 

Steinhaus has an extensive background in IT leadership, having served as CIO and Director of IT at multiple colleges and universities. His areas of expertise include instructional technology, administrative computing, library services, network and infrastructure, system administration, support services, and cybersecurity. Before joining Fairmont State, he led technology initiatives at Chatham University for nearly 22 years, implementing innovative solutions to enhance institutional efficiency, student engagement, and faculty support.

This is a pivotal time in higher education, as institutions are navigating rapid technological advancements, striving to provide secure technology, and preparing students for the opportunities and challenges of a digitally connected world,” said Steinhaus. “Fairmont State has an incredible opportunity to reimagine how technology can enhance teaching, learning, and institutional processes. I look forward to partnering with students, faculty, and staff to leverage technology to enhance the educational experience, improve efficiency, and support student success inside and outside the classroom.” 

At Fairmont State, Steinhaus will oversee the university’s IT strategy, working to advance technology-driven initiatives that support student success and institutional goals. His leadership will be instrumental in enhancing digital resources, strengthening cybersecurity measures, and fostering a culture of innovation. 

Steinhaus is also committed to professional development and continuous learning, having recently completed Purdue University’s CyberTAP cybersecurity program. He is dedicated to fostering collaboration and strategic IT governance to ensure Fairmont State remains at the forefront of higher education technology. 

Fairmont State University is excited to welcome Steinhaus to the Falcon Nation starting February 10 and looks forward to his leadership in driving technological advancements that benefit students, faculty, and staff.
