Fairmont State University's Collegiate Singers & Community Choir and Wind Ensemble announce spring semester concerts
Fairmont State University announces two free concerts. The Fairmont State Wind Ensemble presents a concert at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 23. The Fairmont Collegiate Singers and Community Choir present their first concert of the spring semester at 7:30 p.m. Friday, February 24, in Wallman Hall Auditorium.
The Fairmont State Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Alyssa Schwartz, presents The Great Locomotive Chase by Robert W. Smith, Appalachian Setting by Levi Ferrebee, A Disney Spectacular, arranged by John Moss, Washington Post by John Philip Sousa, and Arabesque by Samuel R. Hazo.
The Fairmont State Collegiate Singers and Community Choir are directed and accompanied by Prof. John Morrison. The Collegiate Singers will perform works of Matthew Orlovich, Eleanor Daley, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Doug Andrews, and José Castillo. The Community Choir will perform works by Michael John Trotta, Michael G. Jartin, Emma Lou Diemer, Eric Lane Barnes, Billy Joel, and Nina Gilbert.
Instrumentalists will join the choirs on two numbers, with Franky Satterfield playing djembe and Bailey Phillips playing flute.
Admission is free, and the concert is open to the public.
