Fairmont State amongst 2023 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings

Sep 12, 2022

Fairmont State University has been recognized by the U.S. News & World Report for the third consecutive year, earning placements in its 2022 – 2023 Best Colleges rankings including Best Nursing Programs and Top Social Mobility in the South—Regional University category. The U.S. News and World Report has produced the Best Colleges Rankings for 38 years, aiming to provide data-driven information and guidance to assist prospective students and their families throughout the college search process.

“We are thrilled to receive such prestigious recognition within the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings,” said Fairmont State University Vice President for Student Success, Ken Fettig. “This recognition is a true testament to the unwavering commitment from our campus community to provide quality, transformative educational opportunities to all who seek them at Fairmont State University.”

The U.S. News and World Report places colleges and universities into 10 distinct ranking groups across four geographical regions including North, South, Midwest and West to allow for valid comparison of higher education institutions.

Fairmont State is included in the Regional Universities South category. The Regional Universities distinction is an indicator that a comprehensive scope of undergraduate areas of study are made available to students, in addition to some master’s degree programs.

“Fairmont State University offers more than 90 areas of study in the arts and sciences, engineering and technology, teacher education, nursing and business administration, among others,” Fettig continued. “We take pride in centering our students at the heart of everything we do and look forward to continuing to ensure transformational impacts while serving our mission to educate the next generation of global citizen leaders.”

U.S. News' college profile pages benchmark each school's relative performance across different ranking indicators and include many of the latest statistics used in the calculations, including student-faculty ratio and the average federal loan debt of graduates. Information provided directly to U.S. News by institutions is also evaluated including application requirements, tuition and financial aid policies and campus activities.
