Fairmont State ranks among top for teaching programs
Fairmont State University has recently been ranked to have one of the Best Online & Education Teaching Degree Programs by study.com and one of the Most Affordable Online Colleges for the Master of Education in Multi-Categorical Special Education program by OnlineU.org.
"Our online degrees are designed to serve working professionals and can be pursed on a part-time or full-time basis. This enables candidates to complete coursework at times that are most convenient for them,” Dr. Amanda Metcalf, Interim Associate Dean for the School of Education, Health & Human Performance, said. "Our faculty have worked to design courses specifically for the distance learner and provide frameworks for students that create a sense of community among their peers. Fairmont State University’s online graduate degrees create tremendous opportunities for students while ensuring the best return on their investment through affordability, quality faculty and programs.”
Study.com looked at several data points from the Department of Education such as graduation rates and tuition costs as well as support offered online. These online degree rankings emphasize the accessibility, affordability, and quality of education.
Dr. Julie Reneau, program coordinator for the M.Ed. in Multi-Categorical Special Education and Director of Individualized Mentoring & Support Services program, was excited to learn that the program was one of the most affordable in the nation.
"At Fairmont State University, we strive to provide a high-quality, cost-effective program with a personal touch,” she said. "We know the sacrifices that our students make to earn a master's degree and certification in Special Education, and we want to help them attain these goals at a reasonable price.”
OnlineU’s methodology for the rankings incorporate a return on investment formula to show accredited programs with the best value. Since the cost and return of a college can significantly vary by the degree, tuition rates and salary numbers are specific to degree-level and major. All tuition rates were manually researched on official school websites in order to ensure accuracy. Salary figures were reported by PayScale and reflect earnings of students 10 or more years after graduation.
