Scholarships presented during inaugural Soar Awards
This week, nearly 200 future Fairmont State students were welcomed into the Falcon family during the inaugural Soar Awards. As they shook the hand of President Mirta Martin and were cheered on by their family and friends, students were presented with an opportunity scholarship, valued at $500.
“As a first-generation college student, I understand the difficulty families face when deciding how to pay for college,” said Martin. “This opportunity scholarship is our way of saying welcome to the Falcon family and providing financial assistance to help as many families as possible.”
This year’s events were held in Colebank Auditorium and at the Grand Pointe Conference Center in Vienna. Valued at $500, the opportunity scholarship can be combined with other Fairmont State scholarship support but when combined must not exceed base tuition and fees.
