Brill Earns MEC Freshman of the Year Honors

Fairmont State's Sydney Brill has been named Co-Mountain East Conference Freshman of the Year for her efforts as a true-freshman for Falcons during the 2017-18 season. Brill was also named a first team All-MEC selection after averaging a score of 82.83 in six rounds at MEC sponsored golf events this season.
 
Brill, a freshman from Harrisville, W.Va., finished the year in a three-way tie for second place in average shots per round, behind UVa-Wise's Katie Pritchett – the 2017-18 Mountain East Conference Player of the Year.
 
Brill finished second at the MEC Fall Invitational at Stonewall Resort back on Oct. 3, before placing fourth at the MEC Fall Championships at Glade Springs on Oct. 11. Brill finished in a tie for 12^th place at the MEC Spring Invitational, which wrapped up this evening at Edgewood Country Club in Charleston.
 
In addition to her success during MEC events this season, Brill also finished second at the Ohio Valley Golf Classic back on Sept. 25, and finished in sixth place at the Battle of the Beach event in Myrtle Beach, S.C. back on March 11.
 
Notre Dame's Alexandra Cardi shared freshman of the year honors with Brill after both players tied in six rounds of MEC golf action this season. The pair also turned in the same score of 245 during the MEC Fall Championships, which was used as the tiebreaker.
