Jan 18, 2018

The Fairmont State University Department of Music is excited to announce, “Music Of John Williams: May The Force Be With You” presented by the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (WVSO) at Fairmont State University on Monday, February 19, at 7:30 PM.

Led by conductor Michael Krajewski, the concert is dedicated to the work of American film music composer, John Williams. “Music of John Williams: May The Force Be With You” features family-friendly selections from Williams’s entire career, including his iconic music from the Star Wars franchise, as well as compositions from Harry Potter, Superman, and Jurassic Park.

“This is a must-see concert. John Williams’s music has been the sound of Hollywood blockbuster films for decades,” said Dr. Brian F. Wright, musicologist at Fairmont State University. “This is your opportunity to hear music from Jurassic Park, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Superman, and more performed live by a professional symphony orchestra. We are extremely excited to bring this unique experience to the Fairmont community,” he said.

Michael Krajewski is known for his entertaining programs and clever humor, and is a highly sought-after conductor of symphonic pops. He is also the Music Director of the Philly Pops and Principal Pops Conductor of the Atlanta and Jacksonville Symphonies.

In addition to the concert, attendees will have the opportunity to take a photo with an R2D2 prop used in the original Star Wars trilogy. The prop will be on display at the concert.

The concert begins at 7:30 PM in Colebank Hall at Fairmont State University. Tickets are available at the Fairmont State University Box Office, 4th floor of Wallman Hall, or by calling 304.367.4240.
