FAFSA Help Available During "FAFSA Frenzy"

Jan 23, 2018

West Virginia students can get free help completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and other college financial aid forms during FAFSA Frenzy on Sunday, Feb. 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Gaston Caperton Center, 501 West Main St., Clarksburg.

Fairmont State University staff from the Office of Admissions and Recruitment and the Office of Financial Aid will assist with FAFSA Frenzy at the Caperton Center on Feb. 11.

“Completing the FAFSA is a critical step for anyone considering going to college,” said Tresa Weimer, Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships. “Students must submit the FAFSA in order to be considered for a variety of financial aid programs including state and federal grants, scholarships and loans.”

Anyone who is planning to pursue some form of education and training beyond high school within the next year should complete the FAFSA. That includes high school seniors, current college students and adults thinking about earning a degree or skill certificate. FAFSA Frenzy is open to students of any age or income-level regardless of where they plan to attend college.

Students and families should bring a driver’s license, both the student’s and parent’s Social Security number, 2016 tax records, 2016 untaxed income records and information about investments and bank account balances.  For a complete list of the required documents, how to prepare for completing the 2018-2019 FAFSA, and directions to the Gaston Caperton Center please visit our FAFSA Frenzy site at:  /finaid/funding/fafsa-frenzy.

All information that is provided will be submitted through the federal government’s secure FAFSA network. Volunteers at FAFSA Frenzy are Fairmont State employees who will keep students’ and families’ financial information and personal details private.

The Gaston Caperton Center offers classes for Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College. For more information about the Caperton Center, visit http://www.fairmontstate.edu/about/capertoncenter. For more information about Fairmont State, visit www.fairmontstate.edu.
