Important information you need to know.
The 2025 - 2026 FAFSA is now available!
If this is your first time completing the FAFSA you will need to create a StudentAid.gov account (formerly known as an FSA ID) NOTE: It may take up to three business days
for your identity to be verrified for the account to be created.
You will also need the following information to complete your FAFSA:

- Fairmont State University School Code: 003812
- Your Social Security Number
- If you aren't a U.S. citizen, you will need your A-Number
- Your federal income tax returns, W-2s, records of child support received, and your
current balance of checking, savings, and cash
- Note: You must provide consent and approval to disclose your federal tax information to
be eligible for federal student aid
- Bank statements and records of investments (if applicable)
- Records of net worth of investments, businesses and farms (if applicable)
- Records of untaxed income (if applicable)
- If you are a dependent student, you will also need most of the above information for
your parent(s)
- If you are a married student who did not file a joint tax return with your spouse
then your spouse will also need to provide most of the above information
FAFSA Deadlines
Fairmont State University's priority deadline is March 1st
State deadlines:

- Promise Scholarship Deadline: March 1st
- West Virginia Higher Education Grant Deadline: April 15th
If you are admitted to Fairmont State University as a freshman and successfully apply
for aid, you should begin receiving your award packages in January. If you're a returning
student, you will begin receiving award packages in May, as long as your application
is complete and you are making satisfactory academic progress
