FSU Names McNeely Interim VP of Student Affairs and Operations
Dr. Stephen B. Jones, Interim President of Fairmont State University and Dr. Mirta M. Martin, President-Select, have named Tim McNeely to the position of Interim Vice President of Student Affairs and Operations. McNeely currently serves as Director of Athletics and will begin his new duties immediately.
Under this new title, McNeely will oversee athletics, university communications and student services. Effective immediately, Chad Fowler, Associate Athletic Director and Director of Athletic Development will assume the role of Acting Director of Athletics.
“I am honored beyond words to take on this new role,” said McNeely. “I look forward
to working with our new president and the entire campus community as we enter into
a new era for our university. Fairmont State is truly a special place and I am eager
to assist in any way that I can to help grow our enrollment and ensure prosperous
opportunities for our students, faculty, and staff.”
Misty Poe, Associate Vice President of University Communications, is stepping down
from her position in order to pursue a career in autism education. She will begin
the spring semester as a student pursuing a master’s degree in special education.
Dr. Martin will name an Executive Director of University Relations & Marketing in
the near future. Plans are for this position to be in place by mid-February.
Effective immediately, Dr. Tim Oxley will return to the School of Business as a tenured faculty member.
“I am grateful to Dr. Oxley for his work in Student Affairs,” said Martin. “Looking ahead, I look forward to working with Tim McNeely as we position Fairmont State to soar to new heights.”
“I am so pleased that Mr. McNeely has accepted this Interim VP role leading a critical suite of FSU functions,” said Jones. “I am not simply appointing an Athletic Director to this challenging role. I am, in fact, designating a proven leader and manager. Tim has broad business and management experience (legal, economic development, state government, professional sports/PGA Tour). I have full confidence that Tim can serve FSU and Dr. Martin with distinction.”
