FSU Hosts Internationally Acclaimed Chamber Music Ensemble

Continuing its season of renowned Music on the Hill concert performances, the Fairmont State University Department of Music announces guest music artists the PEN Trio performing at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6, at the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center.

The PEN Trio are Nora Lewis, oboe; Philip Paglialonga, clarinet; and Eric Van der Veer Varner, bassoon. The PEN Trio bridges performance and scholarship to explore and expand the repertoire for the traditional trio d’anches. The ensemble regularly tours throughout North America and abroad and has become known for the quality and energy of its performances. The PEN Trio has visited dozens of universities and has performed at numerous academic conferences, chamber music series and private functions. Recent highlights include performances in China, Hong Kong and Trinidad, as well as appearances at the annual conferences of the International Double Reed Society, College Music Society and National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors, as well as performances on Michigan and Alabama Public Radio. The performance will take place at the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center on the main campus of Fairmont State University, located at 1201 Locust Ave., Fairmont.
