FSU Celebrates Random Acts of Kindness Week
Fairmont State University is celebrating Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Week through Friday, Feb. 19. Fairmont State’s activities are being coordinated by the Office of Civic Engagement.
“By celebrating RAK Week, it is our hope that we will inspire FSU students to practice kindness and pass it on to others. We encourage students, faculty and staff to individually practice random acts of kindness throughout the year. From simply holding the door for someone to buying a coffee for the person behind you in line at the campus Starbucks, there are limitless ways to be kind on campus,” said Amy Drvar, Director of the Career Development Center.
To kick off the week of kindness on campus, staff volunteers gave away hot chocolate on the morning of Monday, Feb. 15, to students and employees, sponosred by the Office of Civic Engagement. The Office of Civic Engagement e-mailed ideas for kind acts to students and employees. The Department of Public Safety gave rides from parking lots to the interior of campus to students walking to class. The Office of Student Activities sponsored a "Hugs and Kisses" giveaway, handing out Hugs drinks and Hershey's Kisses. Greek Life students opened doors for people for an hour in high foot traffic buildings.
“We look forward to seeing the kindness that Fairmont State University can display,” Drvar said. “Be sure to tweet about your Random Act of Kindness to @fsucareer using #RAKweek.”
