What do “Star Wars,” “Harry Potter” and “Jurassic Park” all have in common? Music written by one of the most famous American composers alive today--John Williams. Hear your favorite movie scores come to life with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

The concert program will include selections from Blockbuster hits such as: “Superman,” “Indiana Jones,” “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial,” “Harry Potter,” “Jurassic Park,” “Lincoln” and last but not least, “Star Wars.” Those who attend can bring wands and Jedi swords, but in case you forget, just follow the red carpet and you’ll find props and paparazzi.

The 501st Legion, the international Star Wars costuming organization, will be in attendance at the Fairmont concert dressed as various characters from “Star Wars.” For more information about the group, visit http://www.501st.com.

“Williams routinely gives us tuneful, harmonically rich music that is clothed in lavish orchestration. Most importantly for the listener, his music has coherent structure that allows it to stand alone, independent of the movie for which it was written. In fact, hearing this music in the concert hall is perhaps even more rewarding, as it plays in the ‘theater of the mind,’ ” said Maestro Grant Cooper.

“John Williams: All the Blockbusters” is part of the ZMM Architects and Engineer Pops Series and is sponsored by City National Bank and the West Virginia Lottery.
