Employers Sought for Job Fair; Events Planned to Help Students Prepare
The Fairmont State University Career Development Center will host its annual Job Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 16, and is seeking area employers who would like to participate.
“The Job Fair draws a large crowd is a great way to connect with potential new hires,” said Amy Drvar, Director of Career Development. “Fairmont State prides itself on providing its students and graduates with the skills they need to succeed in the workplace.”
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 16 in Gym 1 of the Falcon Center. Employers are invited to register for the event to recruit Fairmont State students, alumni and community members for employment and internship opportunities. Free employer registration is available by going to the FalconLink web site at https://fairmontstate-csm.symplicity.com/ or by contacting the Career Development Center at (304) 367-4214.
Last year’s Job Fair featured about 80 employers and more than 300 job seekers. Job seekers who plan to attend are encouraged to dress professionally, research the participating companies and be prepared to network.
Leading up to the Job Fair, the Career Development Center is hosting events to make sure current FSU students are prepared.
On Tuesday, Feb. 2, the Career Development Center will host a table in the Main Street area on the second floor of the Falcon Center from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to make students aware of available services, which include assistance with resumes, cover letters, mock interviews, career assessments and job and internship searches. Students will also be able to create a Falcon Link account, which is FSU’s online connection among students, alumni and employers. Students can create a profile, upload resumes and search for job and internship opportunities.
On Wednesday, Feb. 3, the Career Development Center will host Resumania in Room 217 of the Turley Student Services Center. There will be two resume workshops that day. The first will start at 10 a.m., and the second will begin at 2 p.m. Students planning to attend the Job Fair are encouraged to participate or to schedule an appointment with the Career Development Center to receive one-on-one assistance from campus Career Counselor Meagan Gibson and Director Amy Drvar.
