Leadership Marion Hosts Spring Into Action Fair on April 18

Apr 07, 2015

Each year, participants in Leadership Marion plan an annual project to benefit the community. This year, the Leadership Marion XXXIII class invites the community to participate in their spring event, the “Spring into Action Fair.” In partnership with the United Way of Marion County, this event will celebrate National Volunteer Week by bringing the community together and raising awareness and funds for Marion County’s non-profit organizations. The fair will be held on Saturday, April 18, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Monroe Street in Fairmont.

The “Spring into Action Fair” will be a street fair, complete with food and business vendors, live music, and special activities for the whole family. In the spirit of a “fair,” non-profit organizations will provide fair-like activities including face painting, balloon art, yard games, cotton candy and much more. These activities will provide a way for the non-profit organizations to raise awareness and funds.

“Leadership Marion is a program of people who are motivated by commitment, involvement, understanding and enthusiasm in an effort to foster leadership and stewardship in the Community. Through organizing this event, participants are making a collaborated effort to raise awareness and funds for non-profit entities in Marion County, thus reaching our mission,” said Budd Sapp, Director of Leadership Marion.

Bill Stalnaker and Night Moves, and other local artists will be providing entertainment during the event.

“We would like to thank our many event sponsors including the Marion County Commission for supporting this event. All proceeds will go directly back into our county through the non-profit organizations in attendance,” Sapp said.
