He was hired in February 2014 as a campus police officer. Martin serves as a patrolman with the Department of Public Safety, where he provides routine campus patrols, answers calls for service and other duties within the department. Martin and his fiancé Sara, a nursing major at FSU, currently reside in Fairmont and plan on getting married in June 2015.

In 2012, he was placed in the position of AED program coordinator in addition to his other duties; in 2014 he took on the position as police officer and also kept his responsibilities as AED program coordination and medical responder. Nigh graduated from the West Virginia State Police Academy on Oct.10, 2014. Nigh, his wife Marci and their two children, Mitchell and Macey, live in Fairmont.
