Alumni Association Seeks 2015 Alumni Award Nominations

Feb 10, 2015

Each year, the Fairmont State Alumni Association celebrates the achievements of former students and honors them at the annual Alumni Awards Brunch during Homecoming.

Homecoming 2015, planned for Oct. 22 through 24, will include special events to commemorate FSU’s Sesquicentennial.

Fairmont State alumni and the community are invited to submit the name of distinguished alumni in three categories: Alumni of Achievement, Outstanding Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni Awards.

The nomination guidelines are as follows:

  • Alumni of Achievement – Graduate of Fairmont State who has achieved a high level of success in chosen profession and is recognized for professional accomplishments, service to the community, ethical behavior and exemplary character.
  • Outstanding Alumni – Graduate of Fairmont State prior to 1989 who displays loyalty to Fairmont State, is successful in chosen career, serves community and exhibits ethical behavior and exemplary character.
  • Outstanding Young Alumni – Graduate of Fairmont State under the age of 40 during the year of nomination, who is successful in chosen career, displays service to the community, is recognized for professional accomplishments, maintains communication with Fairmont State and exhibits ethical behavior and exemplary character.

Nominations should be submitted in the form of a letter of recommendation outlining the reasons for which the candidate meets and exceeds the criteria in his or her category. Send nominations to Emily Swain, Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, by March 4, 2015, at Emily.Swain@fairmontstate.edu. Nominators should include their name and contact information along with the letter of recommendation for the candidate.

Nomination forms for candidates not chosen will remain actively eligible for three years. Those candidates not selected within a three-year period will be removed from the nomination slate for one year and then will be eligible to be re-nominated the following year.
