Academy for the Arts Offers Spring Scholarships
The Fairmont State University Academy for the Arts is offering three $100 scholarships—one in art, one in music and one in theatre—for the spring term from March 9 through May 16.
Students who are in kindergarten through sixth grade can apply for the merit and need-based scholarships by filling out an online application and attaching a recommendation letter from their public school educator (preferably an arts educator in the area they intend to pursue). Students who are in seventh through 12th grade also may apply through the online application, submit at least one letter of recommendation from a public school teacher and must schedule an audition for music and theatre applicants; art applicants must submit an electronic portfolio.
Applications can be downloaded at www.fairmontstate.edu/academyarts and should be mailed to Leigh Anne Bolyard, Director, Academy for the Arts, Fairmont State University, 1201 Locust Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554 or e-mailed to lbolyard1@fairmontstate.edu. Applications must be received by 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20. Audition day for seventh- through 12th-graders will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22. To schedule an audition, call Bolyard at (304) 333-3655.
