Alumni Invited to After Hours Social in Buckhannon

Jan 28, 2015

The Fairmont State Alumni Association is partnering with the Upshur County Convention & Visitors Bureau to host an after hours social in Buckhannon on Friday, Feb. 20.

“The Alumni Association looks forward to connecting with Falcons in the Buckhannon area,” said Emily Swain, Director of Alumni Relations. “We would like to thank Laura Meadows, who won our 2013 Outstanding Young Alumna Award, for helping to make this event possible.”

Meadows graduated cum laude with a degree in marketing from Fairmont State in 2007. While taking a sales course at FSU, Meadows discovered her passion for the tourism industry in West Virginia. In 2011, Meadows was appointed as the Executive Director of the Upshur County Convention & Visitors Bureau. In her role, she is responsible for overall programming and development within the CVB. As director, she oversees multiple festivals including the Strawberry Festival, Mountain Quilt Quest, Festival Fridays, Upshur County Fair and many more. Meadows also works closely with West Virginia Wesleyan College to promote all Upshur County has to offer to its students. Her husband, Johnny Meadows, also is a 2007 FSU graduate.

“I made lots of good friendships at Fairmont State. There are even a few professors I keep in touch with,” Meadows said. “This event is a good time to catch up with old friends and to meet new people.”

The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at C.J. Maggies, 16 East Main St., Buckhannon. Tickets are $15 per person, which includes hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Those who would like to attend should RSVP online at www.fairmontstate.edu/alumni or by calling (304) 367-4015.
