Open Houses Offer Information on Education Graduate Programs
Teachers interested in advancing their careers by earning a master’s degree or advanced certification and those with a bachelor’s degree who are interested in becoming teachers can find helpful information at two Open House events hosted by the Fairmont State University School of Education, Health and Human Performance in May.
Open houses are planned for 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Eastwood Elementary School, 677 201st Memorial Highway, Morgantown, and from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at East Fairmont High School, 1993 Airport Road, Fairmont. Admission is free and open to the public. Those who attend should bring their college transcripts for on-site review and application. For more information, call (304) 367-4886.
“Faculty from the School of Education, Health and Human Performance will be on hand to talk one-on-one with those interested in one of our graduate programs. We will be glad to help answer questions about program requirements, the admission process and financial aid,” said Dr. Carolyn Crislip-Tacy, Interim Dean. “Fairmont State has a long history of providing high quality, affordable teacher education programs. We are proud of the many graduates of our programs who teach here in North Central West Virginia.”
The School of Education, Health and Human Performance offers two graduate degrees. The Master of Arts in Teaching degree is designed for college graduates with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, fine arts or professional fields who are interested in obtaining an initial teacher licensure. The Master of Education degree is offered in the following concentrations:
- Special Education
- Professional Studies
- Reading Specialist
- Digital Media
- Online Learning
- Exercise Science, Fitness and Wellness.
