"ColorKaleiD: Theories & Elements of Design" Exhibit Showcases FSU Students
Fairmont State University and TCAC Inc. will present a multi-faceted interactive light exhibition showcasing the talent of students. The show "ColorKaleiD: Theories & Elements of Design" ("color - collide") will be on display Friday, April 25, through Sunday, May 11, at Gallery 62 West in Grafton. An opening reception is planned for 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at the gallery in Grafton.
The exciting exhibit will feature a wide variety of creative work by members of the Guild of Graphics who are graduating in the Graphics Engineering Technology Program. Featured members include Alexander Bennett of Clarksburg, Matthew Bennett of Fairmont, Rachel Carder of Belmont, Karen Gregor of Fairmont, Joshua Hartz, Marianne Jenkins of Grafton, Nicholas Lively of Farmington, Amber Miller of Newark, Del., Emily Moorehead of Bruceton Mills, Jenna Nuzum of Thornton, Corey Roberts of Fairmont, Millie Thompson of Morgantown, Casey Williams of Grafton and Tyler Williams of Morgantown. Shelly L. Solberg, Graphics Engineering Technology faculty member in the College of Science and Technology, leads the project.
The Guild of Graphics is a newly formed nonprofit organization with a passionate mission to educate the public about the basic foundations and elementary laws of design that underpin and unify the arts and sciences. ColorKaleiD features an eclectic blend of 2D and 3D prints, illuminated multi-media projections and whimsical kaleidescope installations that simultaneously "reflect" and "project" colored light. The shimmering patterns and interactive participant shadows complete the final composition.
