USA Rugby Names FSU Graduate to 2013 National Honor Roll
USA Rugby annually recognizes collegiate rugby student athletes for their excellence in the classroom with the USA Rugby National Collegiate Academic Honor Roll.
Adam Martin of Elkins graduated from Fairmont State University in May 2013 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. During his time at FSU, he and his twin brother Ian Martin were four-year starters on the Men’s Rugby Team, a club sport team.
“Adam represents Fairmont State University and our rugby team so well – on and off the field. We always stress that our players are students first, athletes second, and we want our rugby players to be good campus citizens. Adam embodies all of our team’s goals,” said Dr. Greg Noone, the rugby team coach and faculty advisor.
Since 2011, USA Rugby has acknowledged the hard work on and off of the field by collegiate student athletes with the Honor Roll. Ninety student athletes were recognized during the 2012-13 academic year for being a consistent starter on their college or university’s rugby team, their academic standing as a junior or senior and having a cumulative grade point average of 3.7 out of 4.0 or higher. Martin was joined by athletes from Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, Notre Dame, Brown, Middlebury, Georgetown, Bowdoin and Columbia. For more information about USA Rugby, visit http://usarugby.org/.

We wish the honorees continued success in their chosen fields.”
Club Sports at Fairmont State University are designed to help students develop leadership, financial and organizational management skills through the opportunity to create, organize and run their own club. The Department of Intramurals provides advisement and administrative assistance to clubs. The Club Sports Council serves as an administrative body within the Intramural Program.
