Kestrel Journal Celebration Planned for April 11-12
The Department of Language and Literature of Fairmont State University and Kestrel: A Journal of Literature and Art will host a two-day Celebration of Issue 31 in April.
On Friday, April 11, from 1 to 1:50 p.m., campus and community members are invited to a panel discussion on memory and writing in Jaynes Hall Room 307. On Friday evening from 5:30 to 8 p.m., Kestrel will host a reception and readings at the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center. Featured writers include Barbara Crooker, Bob Kunzinger, Ethel Rackin, Ellen McGrath Smith and Matt Zambito. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
From 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 12, readings and book-signing will take place at Heston Farm, 1602 Tulip Lane, Fairmont. Featured writers include Tim Armentrout, Cathy Barber, Ace Boggess and Greg Weiss. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
Also available to interested student and community writers are individual consultations with writers Tim Armentrout, Ace Boggess, Barbara Crooker, Bob Kunzinger, Ellen McGrath Smith, Ethel Rackin and Matt Zambito. Detailed information about the writers can be found here. Participants will submit up to 10 pages of work beforehand and receive detailed feedback during a 30-minute private consultation about their work. Consultations are $25. Student scholarships are available.
