Free Math Tutoring Program Begins Sept. 25

Sep 20, 2012

FSU Counts, a free math tutoring program offered by Fairmont State University, supervised by Pam Kabulski and coordinated by Donna Yergovich Nuzum, is planning for its fall session to be held on the Fairmont campus. The tutoring program is offered to students in fourth through eighth grades who are experiencing math difficulties.

The one hour/once a week sessions, which run for eight weeks, are offered Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The program starts Sept. 25/26 and runs through Nov. 13/14.

The program is structured to emphasize math homework difficulties or specific math difficulties.

Fairmont State tutors, proficient in math, aid children in developing their math skills. Kabulski, a Marion County math teacher and the on-site supervisor, will be present to assist each tutor and student.

“The students benefit greatly from the small group instruction and support they receive from their tutors,” she said.

Pre-registration is necessary for students to attend the program. To register, call (304) 367-4579 (leave info on answering machine) or e-mail nwoodson@fairmontstate.edu.
