Leadership Marion Event to Raise Funds for Habitat for Humanity
Members of Leadership Marion Class XXX are planning an event to benefit the Marion County Habitat for Humanity. Each year Leadership Marion conducts an annual project that provides monetary and other support related to an identified local need.
The Racing the Roof 5K Run/ 2 Mile Walk and Kids K is planned for Sunday, May 6, starting at East-West Stadium in Fairmont. Race registration will begin at 1 p.m. The Run/Walk will begin at 2 p.m., and the Kids Race will begin at 3 p.m. For more information, contact (304) 636-4244. Registration is $20 ($25 after April 18) for the 5K Run, $20 for the 2 Mile Walk ($25 after April 18) and $5 for the Kids K. The following age divisions will be available: 19 or younger, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and older. Participants will receive T-shirts. All Kids K participants will receive a medal. Medals will be awarded to the overall first, second and third place male and female, as well as to one male and female in each division.
Leadership Marion is a program for people who are motivated by commitment, involvement, understanding and enthusiasm in an effort to foster leadership and stewardship in the community. The main theme of Leadership Marion relates to civic-oriented leadership with its overall mission of empowering others to increase their participation in the life of the community. Graduates of the program are invited to join the community service-oriented alumni group called Action Marion.
