Children's Summer Music Camps Accepting Registration

May 23, 2011

The Community Music Program of Fairmont State University will offer three music camps for children this summer, as well as summer registration for private music lessons.

New students are accepted for private music lessons until June 30. Those planning to attend a camp should register as soon as possible. The camps are designed for enrichment, discovery, enhancement, development and performance for children interested in studying piano, guitar or singing. The camps will take place in Wallman Hall on the main FSU campus. Instructors are successful performers and experienced teachers with music degrees in their field of expertise. There are no waiting lists.

Guitar Camp will meet from 4 to 7:30 p.m. June 13-17 and is for beginner to advanced students.

The Piano Camp will meet from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. June 13-17 in Wallman Hall on the main FSU campus. The camp is specifically designed for beginning learners and is an opportunity for students to find out about how to play the piano for those who want a jump start.

The voice camp “Born to Entertain Vocal Performance and Stage Technique” will meet from 4:30 to 7 p.m. June 20-24. The camp is for children ages 5-12 who are beginners, experienced or advanced performers. The camp involves preparing group numbers, duets, solos, stage etiquette, vocal production, stage presence, auditioning, drama scenes involving singing, microphone technique and other facets of song presentation. The week is designed for the younger vocalist who enjoys singing a great deal or for those who want to know more about how to sing.
