Thrasher Engineering Supports College of Science and Technology
A gift from Thrasher Engineering, Inc. to the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc. will directly impact the educational experience of Fairmont State University students in the Department of Technology.
H. Wood “Woody” Thrasher, PE, President, Thrasher Engineering, Inc. made a $100,000 commitment in support of the Technology Department of the College of Science and Technology on Wednesday, April 20.
“I have been impressed with the high quality graduates of Fairmont State University’s Department of Technology; they are immediately ready to contribute to the workforce. I have hired them in the past and will continue to hire them,” Thrasher said. “I am pleased to be able to support the University’s students through this gift.”
Four partners at Thrasher Engineering, Inc. are graduates of the Fairmont State Department of Technology: Chad M. Riley, PE, Partner/Site Development Division Manager; Kenneth P. Moran, PE, PS, Vice-President/Chief Engineer/General Manager, Oil and Natural Gas Division; Wm. Randy Watson, Partner/Public Utility Division; and Aaron W. Denham, Partner/Survey, Construction Management and Materials Testing Division Manager.
“I attribute a lot of experiences that I had at Fairmont State to the opportunities I have today,” said Riley, a 1995 graduate of Fairmont State.
“With Thrasher, I also had the opportunity to come back and design a lot of the infrastructure improvements that you see through campus. To be able to come back and be able to be part of something that transforms the place where not only I went to school, but also my parents and my grandparents, is really special.”
Present to accept the gift on behalf of the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc. were Gary Bennett, the Foundation’s Vice President, and Craig Shaffer, the Foundation’s Executive Director.
“On behalf of the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc., I would like to express gratitude for Thrasher Engineering’s long history of philanthropic support for Fairmont State University students,” Bennett said.
Attending on behalf of the University were FSU Interim President Maria Rose; Dr. Anthony Gilberti, Dean of the College of Science and Technology; and Devanna Corley, Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
“We sincerely appreciate the partnership that Thrasher Engineering has with Fairmont State University. This gift will help to increase the margin of excellence of the College of Science and Technology. This generous support will allow Dean Anthony Gilberti to provide additional resources for the Technology Department that can help take these programs to the next level,” Rose said.
“Thrasher Engineering has a long history of contributing to Fairmont State University. This gift will provide resources and opportunities that our students otherwise may not have had. The Office of Institutional Advancement looks forward to working with Thrasher for many years to come,” Corley said.
