"Battle of the Bands" Contest Planned for April 27

Do you have a band? Does your band consist of performers or singers that perform with instruments? If so, Student Government invites you to participate in a "Battle of the Bands."

The event will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, in Colebank Hall gym. All students interested in competing must register to participate by noon April 21 with Sue Conrad in Room 304 Colebank Hall. To be eligible, at least one member of your group must be a Fairmont State University or Pierpont Community & Technical College student and must provide a student I.D.

There will be separate categories for Acoustic and Electric. The Top Acoustic Act will win $300. The Top Electric Act will also win $300. All acts are limited to 10 minutes or two songs, whichever is the shortest duration.

Groups are responsible for their own instruments and amps. Microphones and a PA system will be provided.  The winner, one from each category, will be offered the opportunity to perform again on campus in the fall of 2011.
