Auditions for "A Grand Night of Singing" Planned
Auditions are planned for the Fairmont State University Town & Gown production of “A Grand Night for Singing.” Auditions will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. May 2 and 3 in Room 314 of Wallman Hall with the possibility of a call-back on May 4.
Musical director for the show will be R.J. Nestor, and the director will be Jeffrey H. Ingman. Rehearsals will begin in mid-May. Performances of the show will be at 7:30 p.m. June 17, 18, 24 and 25 and at 2 p.m. June 19. The musical revue highlights the music of Rodgers and Hammerstein.
Strong vocal performers with the ability to execute basic dance and rhythmic movement on stage are needed for the show. Performers ages 18 and older are encouraged to audition. Roles are primarily focused on the 18-20 age range, but those of all ages will be considered.
Those interesting in auditioning should call Susan Bailey at (304) 367-4203 to set up an audition time slot. Those who audition should prepare two songs, one that is upbeat and one ballad, 16-24 bars each. Appropriate selections could come from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Loewe, Frank Loesser, Porter, Berlin, Styne and Bernstein.
