Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority Hosting "Walk Fast with Habitat" April 30

Delta Beta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority at Fairmont State University is holding its first annual “Walk Fast with Habitat” walk event to benefit Habitat for Humanity in Marion County. The project was created to fulfill the sorority’s annual National Service Project obligation, and in turn, to help benefit the non-profit organization Habitat for Humanity.

The event will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at Duvall-Rosier Field on the FSU and Pierpont Community & Technical College main campus. Registration, which includes a free T-shirt, is $15 for students and $20 for the general public and begins at 10 a.m.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. For more information about Marion County Habitat for Humanity, visit www.marionhabitat.org.

“I think this will be a good experience for the sorority sisters and will make people more aware of the situation. Be a part of this tradition, submit a sponsorship and/or come out Saturday,” said Jessica Kromer, Student Government Senior Senator and member of Alpha Sigma Tau. “We really would like the community’s support in making this fundraising event a success for Habitat for Humanity.”
