FSU to Host State Science and Engineering Fair

The West Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair is being held on Saturday, March 26, at Fairmont State University.

Students in grades nine through 12 are eligible to enter. Last year, there were 66 participants from sixteen high schools. There are 13 categories for the entries. Projects must be in one of the following areas: Behavioral & Social Science; Botany; Computer Science; Engineering; Mathematics; Microbiology; Zoology; Biochemistry; Chemistry; Earth & Space Science; Environmental Sciences; Medicine & Health; Physics.

One grand-prize winner will be selected to advance to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles on May 8-13. This will include airfare, ground transportation and lodging for the participant and one chaperon. The cost of display shipping will also be covered.

Set-up will take place on Friday, March 25, between 2 and 5 p.m. The projects will be available for public viewing between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, March 25. Judging will take place on Saturday, March 26, between 8:30 a.m. and noon.
