FSU Board of Governors Elects Officers and Recognizes Guests
During its June 17 meeting, the Fairmont State University Board of Governors elected officers, made committee assignments, announced the schedule for upcoming meetings and recognized several special guests.
Before the meeting began, board members heard a presentation by faculty member David Abruzzino regarding the National Security and Intelligence program.

A group of twenty-two high school students from San Giovanni in Fiore attending "Mountains to Mountains La Sila to Appalachia" Italian to American Culture Camp on the main campus through July 3 were recognized by the board members.

When the meeting officially began at 9 a.m., the board made a special presentation to outgoing student representative Kelley Bronson, who graduated in May. She will be replaced by Zach Hammet.
Peter Lach, Dean of the School of Fine Arts, was also on hand to recognize faculty member Jennifer Boggess and a group of recent graduates and current students who have work included in the "Lynn and Jennifer Boggess: Teaching Artists" exhibit on display at the Culture Center in Charleston.

The Nominating Committee presented its recommendations for officers for Financial Year 2011/Academic Year 2010-2011. Rocco Muriale was re-elected as chair, Shirley Stanton was elected as vice chair and Bob Mild was elected as secretary.
Committee assignments were announced. For the Academic Affairs and Admissions Committee, Janet Crescenzi was named chair and Ron Tucker was named vice chair; Jack "Bob" White is also a committee member. For the Finance, Facilities and Audit Committee, Jim Kettering was named chair and Bryan Towns was named vice chair; Jack "Bob" White and Matt Jacques are also committee members. For the Student Life Committee, Skip Tarasuk was named chair and Mark Pallotta was named vice chair; Bryan Towns and Zach Hammet are also committee members.
The meeting schedule for 2010-2011 was announced. Unless otherwise noted, all meetings are the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in the Board Room, located on the third floor of the Falcon Center. The meetings are open to the public. Meetings are planned for the following dates: Aug. 19, 2010; Oct. 21, 2010; Dec. 16, 2010; Feb. 17, 2011; April 21, 2011; and June 16, 2011.
