FSU Receives International Education Mini-Grant

Apr 14, 2009

Fairmont State University has received a 2009 international education mini-grant from the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission.

The $1,000 grant will support campus activities to promote global awareness or an activity to increase visibility of a campus-based international education program. Other institutions receiving mini-grants are Bluefield State College, Glenville State College, Shepherd University, West Liberty State College and West Virginia State University.

FSU's grant request was submitted by Dr. Christina Lavorata, Associate Provost, and Dr. J. Robert Baker.

At FSU, the grant will be used to support a reception to introduce international students to the campus and to the community; an international student organization fair that is a creative display of the talents, crafts, foods, clothing and traditions of international students; and a graduation salute event to honor the accomplishments of international graduates and their families and friends.
