FSU Hosts State Science Fair

The West Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair is being held on Saturday, March 21, at Fairmont State University.

Students in grades nine through 12 are eligible to enter. Last year, there were 38 participants from eight counties. There are 13 categories for the entries. Projects must be in one of the following areas: Behavioral & Social Science; Botany; Computer Science; Engineering; Mathematics; Microbiology; Zoology; Biochemistry; Chemistry; Earth & Space Science; Environmental Sciences; Medicine & Health; Physics.

One grand prize winner will be selected to advance to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Reno, Nev., on May 10-15. This will include airfare, ground transportation, lodging and $50 a day for food for the participant and one chaperon. The cost of display shipping will also be covered.

Set up will take place on Friday, March 20, between 2 and 5 p.m. The projects will be available for public viewing between 5:30 - 7:15 p.m. on Friday, March 20. Judging will take place on Saturday, March 21, between 8:30 a.m. and noon.
