Free Math Tutoring Offered

Feb 05, 2009

Fairmont State Counts offers free math tutoring for students in grades five through 11 who are experiencing math difficulties. The spring program begins Feb. 17 on the FSU and Pierpont Community & Technical College main campus.

The program is supervised by Pam Kabulski and coordinated by Donna Yergovich Nuzum. The program is structured to emphasize math homework difficulties and assist with specific math difficulties.

The one hour / once a week sessions, which run for eight weeks, are offered Tuesdays at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. OR Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. The program starts Feb. 17 and 18.

Fairmont State tutors, proficient in math, aid children in developing their math skills.

Kabulski, a Marion County math teacher and the on-site supervisor, will be present to assist each tutor and student.

"The students benefit greatly from the small group instruction and support they receive from their tutors," Kabulski said.

Pre-registration is necessary for students to participate in the program. To register a student, call (304) 367-4579 (leave information on the answering machine) or e-mail nwoodson@fairmontstate.edu.

  • Student's grade
  • Day and time of session desired
  • Parent/guardian name (please spell if calling)
  • Phone number

Students are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. There are limited slots available.
