The concert titled "The Appalachian Fiddler" will be under the direction of Grant Cooper, Artistic Director & Conductor of the WVSO. Featured pieces to be performed are "An Appalachian Fiddle Suite," "Lost Tales/Imaginary Dances" and Johannes Brahms" "Symphony No. 3." The music is inspired by the unique culture of the Appalachian region and is paired with a classic symphony by Brahms.

"Appalachian Fiddle Suite," composed and arranged by the WVSO's Maestro Grant Cooper, features settings of two tunes associated with West Virginia ("Country Roads, Take Me Home" and "The West Virginia Hills") along with a fiddle version of the Pachelbel Canon and an original composition by Maestro Cooper, "Margie's Journey." ""Lost Tales/Imaginary Dances," by West Virginia composer David Williams, offers three musical vignettes with an Appalachian connection and was commissioned by the WVSO for the opening of the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences in 2003.
