America Counts Offers Free Math Tutoring

Sep 16, 2008

In conjunction with Fairmont State GEAR UP, America Counts offers free math tutoring for students in grades five through 10 who are experiencing math difficulties. The fall program begins Sept. 30 on the Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College main campus.
The program is supervised by Pam Kabulski and coordinated by Donna Yergovich Nuzum. The program is structured to emphasize math homework difficulties and / or specific math difficulties.
The one hour / once a week sessions, which run for eight weeks, are offered Wednesdays at 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. OR Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. The program starts Sept. 30- Oct. 1 and runs through the week of Nov. 19-20.

Fairmont State tutors, proficient in math, aid children in developing their math skills.
Kabulski, a Marion County math teacher and the on-site supervisor, will be present to assist each tutor and student.

"The students benefit greatly from the small group instruction and support they receive from their tutors," Kabulski said.
