Conference Focuses on Choice Theory
The Fairmont State University Office of Student Affairs is hosting a conference on
Choice Theory, an explanation of human behavior, this week as a professional development
activity for staff and interested members of the community.
"Choice Theory" A Basic Intensive Week," is being conducted by instructor Kim Olver,
a National Certified Counselor and a licensed professional counselor. Since 1987,
she has studied the work of Dr. William Glasser's Choice Theory, Reality Theory and
Lead Management. Certified in Reality Therapy in 1992, Olver continued her studies
to become a certified instructor for the William Glasser Institute in 1993. Since
that time, she has taught more than 50 basic intensive weeks, educating counselors,
social workers, clergy, school administrators, teachers, business people and parents.
Glasser, a lecturer, author and board certified psychiatrist, founded the William
Glasser Institute in 1967. During the training, participants will learn how to incorporate
Choice Theory and reality therapy into their work setting, how to work with difficult
clients and the seven keys to strong relationships.
