International Fair Set for April 17
An International Fair is planned for Thursday, April 17, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at
Fairmont State University.
"The International Fair celebrates our international community on campus and beyond,"
said Amy Hughes, Coordinator of the Library Science Program/Reference Librarian. "The
French club and the International Student Organization came together to organize the
day-time fair with help from the International Education Committee."

A raffle and bake sale are planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Main Street area
on the second floor of the Falcon Center. Raffle prizes were donated by Nail Elegance
and More, Muriale's, Book and Bean, Vittoria and Banks, Subway, Cracker Barrel, Bob
Evans, Zenclay CAFÉ and Dragon Buffet.
From 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Colebank Hall gym, there will be display tables
about different countries and languages, international films, plus information on
how to study abroad and how to apply for a passport. The following display tables
are planned: USPS/passport drive; West Virginia University Office of International
Programs; reusable canvas bag fundraiser (CAFE); French in North America: A New Orleans
Story; French in the Maghreb: Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco; Island French; French
in Europe; FIFA World Cup 2010; Spanish club; Kingdom's Hall of Jehovah's Witness;
Wesley Foundation; Newman Center; Business trip to Europe; Library Multimedia Presentation;
World Cinema (Library); International Authors (Library); Honors Trip; Calabria Exchange.
Beginning at 5 p.m., there will be demonstrations of henna (hand painting), origami,
calligraphy and traditional dress. In addition, international food sampling and demonstrations
from 6-7 p.m. will allow participants to sample taste cuisine from around the world.
From 7 to 9 p.m., an Evening of International Music and Dance is planned.
The International Fair is organized by the International Education Committee, the
International Student Organization and CAFÉ (French club) with additional support
from the HEPC Internationalization Grant.
