Debate Team Takes State Title
The Fairmont State University Debate Team completed their regular season by capturing
the state title in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at the West Virginia Intercollegiate Forensics
Association State Tournament at WVU-Parkersburg.
At the tournament, Dustin Van Pelt and Dominick Pellegrin posted perfect preliminary
records to tie for first place. Both of these debaters will be competing in the NFA
National Tournament this April in Nashville, TN.
The FSU Intercollegiate Debate Team competes in tournaments throughout the East
and Midwest and is open to all students regardless of major or level of experience.
The team is coached by Aimee Richards, Temporary Assistant Professor of Communication,
and is comprised of Dustin Van Pelt, Dominick Pellegrin and Celi Oliveto, all of Fairmont;
Jasmin Patrick of Parkersburg; Anthony Soltelo of Charleston; and Justin Mitchell
of Weston.
