Extreme Entrepreneur Tour Visits Feb. 26

Feb 20, 2008

In celebration of National Entrepreneurship Week, Fairmont State University is bringing the Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour to campus on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Hundreds of high school students, college students, alumni and the community are invited to take part in the day's events from 3 to 7 p.m. at Colebank Hall on the main FSU campus. The event is hosted by the School of Business at Fairmont State University and the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team. Local financial sponsors include Wells Fargo, Monongahela Valley Bank, WV Vision Shared and the INNOVA Commercialization Group with the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation. Other co-sponsors and exhibitors at the event include the U.S. Small Business Administration, the West Virginia Small Business Development Center Network, NASA, the Coordinator of Entrepreneurship Education for the West Virginia Board of Education and the Entrepreneurship Center at West Virginia University.

The Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour, the first-ever national collegiate entrepreneurship tour, is presented by VenturePort.org and sponsored by Inc. Magazine. Founded by award-winning 25-year-olds Michael Simmons and Sheena Lindahl of Extreme Entrepreneurship Education, the tour is comprised of many of America's top young entrepreneurs who have made, earned or sold a company for millions and/or made a huge impact before the age of 30. The vision of the tour is for all of America's college students to graduate with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Activities during the tour include inspirational keynote speakers talking about "how they did it" and lessons learned; a dream action workshop, where participants will create an action plan; a speed networking contest, where attendees will share their ideas and partner up; and a panel of Extreme Entrepreneurs will take audience questions.

"This event will provide inspiration and practical advice," said Rick Harvey, Interim Dean of the FSU School of Business. "Both emerging entrepreneurs and students of all disciplines are invited to attend to learn how they can apply the entrepreneurial mindset to their lives regardless of career choice."
