Audition for Summer Theatre Productions

Fairmont State University's Town & Gown Players are seeking actors for their summer 2008 season. Productions include "Once on This Island, Junior" and "1776." Both performances will be held at Prickett's Fort State Park.

"Once on This Island, Junior" is a Caribbean adaptation of the popular Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale, "The Little Mermaid." Director Francene Kirk will be casting a youth and high school age company of 10 to 12 leads and a large chorus of approximately 25 to 30. For more information, go to www.mtishows.com. Audition dates for "Once on This Island, Junior" are scheduled for March 26 and 27 from 5-7 p.m. Those auditioning should be 18 years old or younger and be prepared with an up-tempo verse and chorus of a song or show tune. Those auditioning should provide a copy of sheet music for the accompanist. No pre-recorded music is permitted. They should also wear clothing suitable for a dance audition. "The musical "1776" tells the story of John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson as they attempt to convince the members of the second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence. Director Jeffrey Ingman will be casting a company of 20 to 25 men and two women. For more information, go to www.mtishows.com. Performances will be July 4-14.

Audition dates for "1776" are scheduled for April 21 from 6-9 pm and April 22 from 6-7 p.m. Preparation should include a verse and chorus of a show tune or song. Those who audition should provide a copy of sheet music for the accompanist. Auditioners may either read from the script or prepare a one-minute monologue. There will not be any dance auditions.
