Laboratory Preschool Accepting Children

Aug 08, 2006

The Fairmont State Laboratory Preschool will begin classes for 3- and 4-year-old children on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

The Laboratory Preschool provides a model early childhood program for children of faculty, staff, students and community families. The preschool is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. The program serves as a training facility for college students, as well as an exemplary program for children from the community.

Three classes will be offered this year. Sandra Petry will be teaching the Monday, Wednesday, Friday morning class for children who are 4 years of age by Sept. 1. She will also teach a class for 3-year-olds on Tuesday and Thursday mornings for children who are 3 by Sept. 1.

A new mixed age class will be added on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons from noon to 2:30 p.m. This class will serve 3- and 4-year-olds. Children must be 3 by Sept. 1 and toilet trained to be eligible for enrollment. The class will be taught by faculty member Bethanie Morris Stiles. There are a limited number of spaces still available in this class.

Those interested in learning more about the program or who would like to enroll a child in the preschool should call (304) 367-4846 to make an appointment to visit the facility, located in the Education Building on the Fairmont State main campus.
