Leah Stern/FS Golf Tournament Is Aug. 7

This year's Leah Stern/Fairmont State Women's Athletics Golf Tournament, planned for Monday, Aug. 7, at the Bridgeport Country Club, features the most prizes in the tourney's history. Leah Stern serves as the events underwriting sponsor for the women's-only event. Stephanie Cox heads up the tournament's committee.

Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place winners of each flight. Urse Dodge will donate a new vehicle to any golfer recording a hole-in-one. Golf packages to Pete Dye Golf Club, Lakeview Resort, Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, Bridgeport Country Club, Stonewall Jackson Resort and Green Hills Country Club will be awarded. The tournament also features a winter weekend package to the Greenbrier Resort. Tickets for Kennywood Park, Idlewild Park and the Pittsburgh Pirates, as well as gift certificates for the Side Street Deli, Say Boy's, Provence Market, Fitnetics, Kime Floral, Pete Dye/Nationwide Tour, Golf USA and Muriale's will be given away.

The four-person scramble will have a shotgun start at 10:15 a.m., preceded by a continental breakfast. A closing/awards ceremony is also planned.

All net proceeds directly benefit women's athletic scholarships for Fairmont State's seven women's athletic programs and cheerleading.
