Town & Gown Theatre Season Announced
Fairmont State's Town & Gown Players will present three shows for the 2006 season
"I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change," "Always...Patsy Cline" and "The Sound of
Music."
Reservations for the plays may be made by calling the Fairmont State Box Office at
(304) 367-4240.
One of Off-Broadway's longest running musicals comes to the area as "I Love You,
You're Perfect, Now Change" opens the season.
The show will be performed in the Wallman Hall Theatre on the campus of Fairmont
State on June 9, 10, 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. and June 11 at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are
$10 for general admission, $8 for seniors and $6 for students with ID. Because of
the adult nature of some of the material, parental discretion is advised.
Described by critics as "Sex and the City" meets "Seinfeld," the show takes a humorous,
and often touching, look at love, romance and marriage. First dates, backseat drivers
and ugly bridesmaid gowns are just a few of the targets of the Joe DiPietro and Jimmy
Roberts musical.
Director Jason Young has assembled a cast that includes Town & Gown veterans Jeffrey
Carder and John Fallon, along with newcomers Linda O'Connor and Liz Rossi. According
to Young, the show is a series of 20 vignettes, filled with moments that evoke extreme
emotions.
"It's a brilliantly funny show, making you laugh until it hurts," Young said, "yet
there are also scenes that will move you to tears. It's so human and so real, but
so funny."
Starring Stephanie Adlington as the late country singer Patsy Cline and Cathy O'Dell
as Louise, a fan, "Always...Patsy Cline" revolves around the music of Patsy Cline.
The character Louise, a fan of the singer, acts as the narrator of the events presented
for the audience. The central feature of "Always" Patsy Cline" consists of 27 Cline
songs, performed by Adlington.
Performances are June 23 and 24 at 7:30 p.m. and June 25 at 2 p.m. at the Gaston
Caperton Center in Clarksburg. Ticket prices are $10 for general admission, $8 for
seniors and $5 for students with ID.
The final production is "The Sound of Music," with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics
by Oscar Hammerstein II, and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse.
Performances are planned for July 14-16 and 21-23 at the Prickett's Fort amphitheatre.
Ticket prices are $12 for general admission, $10 for seniors and $8 for students with
ID.
