Student Play 'Title Pending' Opens April 11
Steve McElroy, senior Theatre major, premiers his new play, "Title Pending," on April
11-13 at 7:30 p.m. in Wallman Hall Theatre. Admission to the play is free and open
to the public.
"Title Pending" is McElroy's fourth play produced at Fairmont State. His other works
include "Death Orders the Salad" (2000), "Stuck Here With You" (2004) and "Stuck Here
With You 2: Holiday Boogaloo" (2005).
"Title Pending" is McElroy's first serious piece. It presents a dark, realistic view
of love and relationships, as six friends become entangled in a web of jealousy, infidelity,
lies and unrequited love, all in an attempt to find happiness.
The play features Jeff Carder of Fairmont as Phil, Lauren Zirk of Martinsburg as
Gloria, Dani Brake of Fairmont as Jill, Jason Young of Fairmont as Brian, Jason Vanfossen
of Fairmont as Drew and Jessica Jirak-McGinn as Liz.
The plot centers around a playwright named Phil (Carder) who finds it difficult to
finish his script because he discovers that, while he was away at a retreat, the woman
he loves, Liz, (Jirak-McGinn) has begun dating his friend Brian (Young) who in turn
has recently broken up with Phil's boss, Gloria (Zirk). The play takes an even bigger
turn when Liz confides that she is cheating on Brian with her ex-boyfriend Drew (Vanfossen)
who is currently dating her best friend Jill (Brake).
The play is two acts with an intermission. It contains adult language and themes.
