Comedy Night Planned for April 18
Fairmont State Student Government is sponsoring a Comedy Night beginning at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, April 18, in Falcon Center Gym 1.
Comedians Steven Juliano Moore and Chuck Kilgore will perform for the event hosted
by comedian Laurie Thompson.
Admission to Comedy Night is free for FS students, faculty and staff and $5 for the
general public. For tickets, call the Box Office at (304) 367-4240. Light refreshments
will be served.
The wit of Steven Juliano Moore has been quoted in Newsweek, Playboy and the New
York Times. He has 20 years of experience performing in comedy clubs, on college campuses
and on national television. He has conducted a series of lectures on comedy writing
for journalists and the advertising industry at the University of Houston's prestigious
Southwest Writers Conference. He has coached and trained stars including Brett Butler,
Sam Kenison, Janine Garafolo and Bill Hicks. His concert tours include Earl Scruggs,
Lola Falana, Graham Nash and B.B. King. He weaves actual events and personalities
into a lighthearted and funny spoof.
Chuck Kilgore's comedy mixes voices, characters and dances. He is well-spoken, well-mannered,
crazy, fanatical and over-enthusiastic with the ability to make it all come together
and still keep his friends and family. He was born and raised in Northwest Indiana
and emerged into the Chicago comedy scene in 1996. He won the Miller Lite Comedy Contest
at the Funny Bone in South Bend, Ind., just months after his "comedic birth." He has
performed at the Star Plaza Theater, where he opened for Alabama in front of an audience
of 3,500 people, and trained at Second City in Chicago.
Laurie Thompson is a native of Flint, Mich., who was the class clown beginning in
sixth grade. After high school, she served four years in the military and later worked
in an Atlanta jail, where she began writing jokes about crime and life terms. She
moved to California and overcame her stage fright by taking a comedy class offered
by Laughs Unlimited with instructor Del Van Dyke. Her comedy offers observations about
relationships, personality quirks and life.
