Issues in HR Management Symposium Planned
The 2006 Emerging Issues in Human Resources Management Symposium will be held Wednesday,
April 19, with complimentary refreshments at 3:30 p.m. followed by presentations at
4 p.m. in the Ruth Ann Musick Library, Multimedia Room A, on the Fairmont State main
campus.
The symposium is being presented by the Fairmont State University School of Business,
the Student Human Resources Center and the Student Society for Human Resources Management.
Today's workplace continues to challenge managers in many ways. Some managers unknowingly
or recklessly engage in discriminatory practices that could ultimately place a company
at risk. Topics covered at the symposium will include the following: How to Avoid
Family Medical Leave Act and Age Discrimination in Employment Act Violations; Minimum
Wage vs. Living Wage in West Virginia; The Effects of Brain Drain; The Benefits of
Organizational Child Care; and The Impact of Diverse Religions in the Workplace.
